Muggers shoot businessman, snatch Tk 19 lakh

Muggers shot a businessman and snatched around Tk 19 lakh from him at Khilgaon in Dhaka today.

A gang numbering three to four muggers intercepted Abdus Salam when he was going to a Dhaka Bank branch at Goran Bazar by rickshaw to deposit the money, Sub-inspector Kamruzzaman, operation officer of Khilgaon Police Station, told The Daily Star.

As the criminals failed to snatch the money from Salam in face of his resistance, they shot him in his left leg and fled the scene with the cash, the police officer added.

Salam was whisked off to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
