Attack on Hindu homes in Sunamganj: 3 more arrested
Police arrested three people in two cases filed over Wednesday's attack on Hindu houses in Naogaon village of Sunamganj's Shalla upazila.
The arrests were made from nearby villages last night, our Sylhet correspondent reports quoting Nazmul Haque, officer-in-charge of Shalla Police Station.
With the latest development, 33 people have so far been arrested in connection with the two cases.
Yesterday, Police Bureau of Investigation arrested the prime accused -- Shahidul Islam Swadhin, member of Sarmangal Union Parishad in Derai upazila, from Moulvibazar.
The cases were lodged with Shalla Police Station on Wednesday, hours after a mob of Hefajat-e-Islam supporters attacked Noagaon village over a Facebook post criticising a Hefajat leader's statement. The attackers vandalised and looted about 90 Hindu houses.
