Mastermind of G4S vault heist held

A day into the recovery of Tk 2.99 crore looted from the office of a security service company in Chittagong, Rapid Action Battalion personnel detained its mastermind from Rangamati this morning.

Arrestee Shahidul Haque alias Shanta, 24, hailed from Narsingdi Sadar upazila, was a security guard of security service company G4S in the port city, said Sohel Mahmud, assistant director of Rab-7.

A total of Tk 3 crore was looted from the vault of G4S office in early Sunday. CCTV footage showed a masked man taking money out of the vault using a fake key, reports our Chittagong correspondent.

Police arrested Bashirul Alam, 28, a muezzin at the mosque of Government City College, and recovered Tk 2 crore 99 lakh and 50 thousand of the looted money from his room in the city.
