Local inventor gets huge response
A Bangladeshi inventor has garnered attention of local and international power and technology companies for his invention of a new technology that generates power using gravitational energy.
The main feature of the technology, Heavy Circular Moving Object's Triggering Energy (HECMOTE), is that it uses gravitation force instead of fuels to generate electricity.
A special device will harness the gravitational force of heavy circular moving objects and rotate the generator to produce electricity.
The installation cost, per megawatt (MW), of a power plant under this technology is Tk 8 crore, while the production cost of per unit electricity is only Tk 0.20. After manpower and maintenance cost, the generation cost will be Tk 0.65 per unit.
The inventor, Shahid Hossain, announced his invention last December and sought local and international help to commercially apply his technology for power generation.
So far, 20 local and international firms have contacted him and offered to commercialise his technology.
About 40 percent of the offers came from abroad, the USA, Germany, Poland, South Africa, Singapore, India and Pakistan, Shahid Hossain, also managing director of Ultramax Power Development Ltd, told the news agency.
“USAID has also showed interest, and offered us to work with them. We are supposed to sit with them to discuss the technology,” said Shahid Hossain.
He said his company is currently negotiating with international companies, and that they will then choose the best one to go forward with the technology.
“But at present my top choice is to register a patent with US patent authority to secure my technology. We have already applied for a patent,” Shahid said.
Shahid, a former engineering student of private college, has already set up a 65 KVA power plant in Tongi on a pilot basis and has been generating 50 kilowatt electricity from the plant daily.
