Patuakhali roads in urgent need of repair

On June 27, The Daily Star published a report titled “Patuakhali roads in dire straits.” The report should serve as a wake-up call for the authorities in Patuakhali municipality.

I visited this mostly urban residential area during the last Eid vacation, and my experience there was hardly pleasant. Local residents have been enduring unspeakable sufferings for the last two years due to the awful condition of the roads, most of which are either badly damaged or unfit for use. With the onset of rainy season, the situation is likely to get worse.

I would like to urge the authorities concerned to adopt an immediate action plan to repair the roads and alleviate the sufferings of the locals.
