Ensure data protection
Mazharul Islam's article "Data protection is rising on the global agenda", published on February 24 in this paper, addressed a few concerns that I've had for a long time about the vulnerability of data privacy in Bangladesh. He cited some laws, regulations and guidelines followed in many countries and regions to protect their respective citizens from potential breaches.
To this, I would like to add that in the era of information and communications technology, it is true that we cannot but share at least part of our personal data with others through social media and other online platforms to keep pace with the rapidly changing world. Thus, we are making ourselves vulnerable in terms of personal privacy. Moreover, the government is also working toward the goal of making a Digital Bangladesh by 2021. But without ensuring data protection, backed by proper laws and regulations, the benefits of a Digital Bangladesh will be hard to achieve.
