A doctor treating ailments in our education sector
This year, SSC and HSC examinations were held, one after another, but there was no news of question papers being leaked. The results were also not unusual. What a stark difference from the previous 4-5 years, when public examinations rhymed with a state of panic regarding the leaks of question papers, spiralling anxiety among students, educators and guardians alike. These instances precipitated the public to lose confidence in the entire education system, tainted its overall reputation to the extent that it felt almost characteristic when leaks surfaced headlines. This year, however, the scenario is evidently different for the better.
And this has been possible because we have a doctor in charge of the ministry of education, who diagnosed this particular ailment early on and provided the proper treatment. I must thank the honourable prime minister for selecting the right person for the educational sphere. Indeed, politicians like Dr Dipu Moni—who is a physician by primary training—not only have the dedication to do good for the nation but also the skills to rightfully do so. As a physician myself, and a member of the Bangladesh Medical Association, I’m incredibly delighted to witness Dr Dipu Moni putting in immense efforts to salvage the derailed train, and place it back on its tracks.
Dr Tahmeed Ahmed, Dhanmondi, Dhaka.
