Faulty election in Gazipur
The former US President Abraham Lincoln provided arguably the best definition of democracy: a political system “by the people, for the people and of the people.” In a democracy, elections are the only way for people to elect their representatives. Elections should be held in a free and fair manner, and a level playing field must be ensured for all the parties. Unfortunately, what we saw in Gazipur didn't reflect the ideals of democracy.
As reported by the media, the election was marred by irregularities and ballot stuffing. Agents of the opposition candidate have not been allowed in a large number of polling centres. Such a faulty election has only undermined our democracy.
