Law enforcers warned against ‘oppressing’ BNP men
BNP today said the members of law enforcement agencies will have to face dire consequences if they do not stop oppressing opposition men.
In a statement, BNP Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed said, “Law enforcement agencies are not state forces now as government has turned them into Awami law enforcement agencies. The government is drenching the entire country with the blood of opposition men by you.”
He said the law enforcers have become “a symbol of horror” to people as they at the behest of the government are carrying out cruel attacks on the opposition.
He also slammed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s recent remarks accusing BNP chief Khaleda Zia of getting involved in sabotage. He alleged that the government is conspiring to arrest the BNP chairperson to remove her from politics.
Speaking at parliament, Hasina yesterday said, “This will be logical to bring the BNP chief under the purview of law as an accused for giving instruction to kill people …the law will take its own course. The law enforcement agencies will look into the matter…they’ll take action."
Issuing a note of warning to the government, the BNP leader said, “Don’t play with fire and don’t try to invite a great disaster. The democracy-loving nationalist forces that are on the movement will remain beside Khaleda Zia even sacrificing their last drop of blood.”
