- A second closed door meeting is held between Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and ZA Bhutto at Hotel Intercontinental. The meeting began at 4:45pm and ended at 5:55pm. Talks are adjourned until tomorrow. Responding to query on whether talks focused the date of commencing National Council sessions, Bhutto says: “Our discussions are wide. We have talked a little and will talk on more agendas.”
In response to another query, Sheikh Mujib says the two discussed all national problems. It could be obtained that their talks are successful, however, their topic of discussion did not come to light.
- East Pakistan Jami’ate Ulamaye Islam (Hazravi) President Pir Mohosen Uddin Ahmad, in a statement, hoped for the success of talks between Mujib and Bhutto, reports PP.
- Turkey’s visiting Foreign Minister Ehsan Sabri visited Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the latter’s Dhanmondi residence.
- Mawlana Bhasani, at a rally in Feni, says only Lahore proposal will end all exploitation of the westerns. He demanded for a Pakistan on the basis of Lahore proposals and adds that he placed the demand to free Bengalis from all forms of exploitation. He wished well of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib and prayed that the almighty give Mujib the power to face the ill forces. He tells his party supporters and activists not to engage in friction with Awami League. To the newly-elected MNs he issues a warning that Bengalis will not show them mercy if they do not fulfill the demands of the people of Bangla.
- Iran’s visiting Foreign Minister Ardeshi Zahedi met ZA Bhutto at Hotel Intercontinental in the morning and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib at his Dhanmondi residence in the evening, reports APP and Ena.
