- Pakistan People’s Party high command, 18-member central committee, sits in a meeting with party chief ZA Bhutto at his Cliffston residence. The meeting decides Bhuto will lead a 15-man delegation to Dhaka on January 27 to meet Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. After the meeting, PPP’s Karachi chief and central committee member Abdul Hafiz Pirzada tells the above information to reporters and adds that the team will stay in Dhaka for five days.
- Today is the last day of 11-point week of East Pakistan Chhatra Union. On this occasion Chhatra Union brought out a torch procession which began from Shaheed Minar and paraded through several key points in Dhaka. Slogans used in the procession are ‘finish the exploiters,’ ‘release leader Moni Singh,’ ‘lift ban on communist party’ etc. The procession ended at Bahadur Shah Park with the finishing speech of East Pakistan Chhatra Union President Nurul Islam.
- East Pakistan Chhatra League brought a torch procession from Baitul Mukarram premises marking the last day of 11-point week.
