Indian film legend Dilip Kumar was offered a lead role in British director David Lean's 1962 classic “Lawrence of Arabia”. However, Dilip Kumar declined the offer citing it a small role for a big hero like him. The role of Sherif Ali subsequently went to Egyptian actor Omar Sharif.
