Gold seized at Ctg airport
Customs officials seized eight gold bars worth around Tk 40 lakh from a passenger at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong this morning.
The officials found the gold bars weighing 933 gram after checking the luggage of Md Osman, 46, of Hathazari upazila in Chittagong, at customs lounge, said Mosier Rahman Mondol, assistant commissioner (AC) of the airport customs.
Osman landed at the airport around 9:30am by an Air Arabia flight from the United Arab Emirates, the official told our Chittagong correspondent.
Meanwhile, Armed Police Battalion (APBn) recovered foreign currencies of 12 different countries, worth Tk 1, 54,908, from Shahjalal International Airport in the capital early today.
On information, a team of APBn raided the departure lounge of the airport around 1:00am and recovered the currencies, said Alamgir Hossain Shimul, assistant superintendent of APBn.
The bearer of the currencies fled the area sensing the raid, the official added.
