Five cops closed for beating up woman drug peddler
Five policemen of Gobindaganj Police Station were yesterday closed to the district police lines on charges of assaulting a woman drug peddler and selling the seized phensidyl at Chapriganj in the upazila.
The accused are Sub-Inspector Sujanul Islam Sujon and constables Mokhles, Shamsul, Atiqur Rahman and Shahinur Rahman.
Police Superintendent Mofazzel Hossain said departmental action will be taken against the cops after proper investigation.
On Thursday noon, the policemen arrested a woman along with 15 bottles of phensidyle in Chapriganj area on Rangpur-Bogra highway, said ABM Jahidul Islam, officer in-charge of the police station.
Later, they beat up the arrestee mercilessly and sold the contraband phensidyle, said the OC.
