FIH president coming again

Leandro Negre, president of International Hockey Federation (FIH), is set to come to Bangladesh for a second time in less than a year to inaugurate the National School Hockey Championship which will be held across the country from February 1.
Negre, who last visited Bangladesh in February last year on a request from the Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF), is expected to arrive here on January 31 to inaugurate the 102-school championship on February 1 as chief guest.
Negre will be the second president of an international sports body to inaugurate a grass-roots tournament in Bangladesh after the then FIFA president Joao Havelange had inaugurated the Pioneer Football League in 1983.
The BHF will distribute sports gear among the participating schools of Dhaka Division to boost training ahead of the championship.
