FFs vow to protect country against Jamaat-Shibir violence
Freedom fighters in Chittagong yesterday vowed to take up arms again as in 1971, if required, for the sake of protecting the country from the anarchy of Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatra Shibir.
Jamaat-Shibir is trying to destroy the country through creating anarchy in the name of blockades and movement, freedom fighter Nazrul Islam Chowdhury told a rally at the Central Shaheed Minar in the port city.
“We freedom fighters have submitted our arms but not our training,” he said. “If necessary we have to take arms in hands again to save the country.”
Bangladesh Muktijodda Sangsad, Chittagong District Unit Command, organised the rally to denounce Pakistan's parliamentary resolution against the execution of war criminal and Jamaat leader Abdul Quader Mollah.
The freedom fighters demanded snapping diplomatic ties with Pakistan, boycotting Pakistani products and executing other war crimes verdicts.
Jamaat-Shibir, the defeated forces of 1971, is hatching a conspiracy to turn Bangladesh into Pakistan, said freedom fighter Md Shah Alam. “To save our motherland as well as the spirit of independence, we have to stand united,” he urged the war heroes.
The protesters also burnt Pakistan's flag and brought out a procession.
