FBCCI hails Hasina
The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) has welcomed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her government on the victory over maritime boundary dispute with neighbouring India.
In a statement, the FBCCI yesterday said Bangladesh had won another maritime boundary dispute with India after the last one with Myanmar.
On July 8, the Permanent Court of Arbitration at The Hague in the Netherlands resolved the long-lasting maritime dispute with India and Bangladesh establishing Bangladesh's right to 19,467 square kilometres in the Bay of Bengal.
The FBCCI hopes that the complications in leasing out blocks to explore mineral resources in the Bay would be resolved now, the statement added.
