A Dhaka court today extended bail to four BNP leaders including its acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir till June 17 in two murder cases filed with Ramna Police Stations.
The three other leaders are: Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Aman Ullah Aman and Sirajul Islam.
Metropolitan Magistrate Anwar Sadat passed the order after Fakhrul and the three other accused appeared before the court this morning and sought extension of their bail period.
The court had earlier granted ad-interim bail to the four leaders till today.
Two other accused in the case -- BNP leaders Sadeque Hossain Khoka and Mirza Abbas -- also appeared before the court today. The duo earlier secured permanent bail in the cases.
Of the cases, one was filed for killing a policeman in an arson attack to a police requisitioned bus at Bangla Motor in the capital on December 24 last year during an anti-government demonstration by the BNP-led alliance.
Ferdous Khalil, a traffic constable, and other two were burnt when arsonists set fire to the police bus at Bangla Motor.
The another case was filed by police on December 1 last year, a day after an unknown passer-by was killed during the opposition's same demonstration at Malibagh Chowdhurypara in the capital.
