Digital Security Act

Two local Chhatra League leaders were sued under Digital Security Act allegedly for spreading false information and rumour against Textile and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi on Facebook in Narayanganj.

Gazi Group manager (administration) Mozammel Haque filed the case with Rupganj Police Station last night, our local correspondent reports.

For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel.

The two Chhatra League leaders are Ashfaqul Islam Tusher, vice president of Kayetpara union unit of Chhatra League; and its organising secretary Ashraful Alam Jemin.

Rupganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohsinul Quadir said that a false and baseless status and a photo on the land of proposed Gazi Cricket Academy had been posted through Ashraful's Facebook ID.

"We sent the Facebook ID to know who actually uses it. A drive is on to arrest the accused," the OC said.

Ashraful Jemin denied the allegation and said, "I am a victim of conspiracy. My rival can spread propaganda using my name in Facebook. I am not involved in the incident."
