13 vultures, 3 dogs found dead in Moulvibazar

Thirteen vultures and three dogs were found dead in a field at Barakapan in Moulvibazar Sadar today.

Shyamal Kumar Mitra, assistant conservator of forests at the Wildlife and Nature Conservation Department, confirmed this to our Moulvibazar correspondent.

He said, "We came here after receiving the news. It is not yet known why the incident happened. I'm still trying to find out the reason."

The animals might have been given poisonous food, the official suspected.

Locals informed him about more dog deaths, he added.

Moulvibazar District Livestock Officer Md Abdus Samad said that they found most of the dead vultures decomposed.

"These dead vultures look like they died at least 10 days ago. We have sent those to Sylhet lab to find out the cause of the deaths," the official added.
