Star Cineplex has become one of the country's leading entertainment destinations. News of its closure is extremely rare, as its screens remain open almost year-round. Even on special occasions—excluding lockdown periods—there has been no record of screenings being halted. This is because weekends and public holidays usually see a surge of crowds flocking to these multiplexes

The latest update is that the institution has officially announced a one-day closure. On Monday (August 4) afternoon, it was announced that all branches of Star Cineplex will remain closed on August 5, marking 'July Mass Uprising Day'. Regular operations will resume on Wednesday, August 6.

Star Cineplex's Senior Marketing Officer, Mesbah Uddin Ahmed, told Bangla Tribune, "August 5 has been officially declared a public holiday. However, we were not specifically instructed to shut down. In solidarity with the government's decision, we have decided to close our operations for the day. There's no 'if' or 'but' about it."
