Nickelodeon has commissioned a brand-new, 26-episode, 2D-animated series titled "Avatar: Seven Havens", which will continue the rich mythology and thrilling adventures of "Avatar: The Last Airbender". This new instalment is being developed by Avatar Studios and the original creators of the franchise, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko.

"Avatar: Seven Havens" is set in a world that has been devastated by a catastrophic event. The story follows a young Earthbender who learns that she is the new Avatar, succeeding Korra. However, in this turbulent era, the title of Avatar is no longer revered; instead, she is seen as a harbinger of destruction rather than a beacon of hope. Pursued by both human and spirit adversaries, she embarks on a perilous journey alongside her long-lost twin to uncover the truth about their origins. Their mission is to safeguard the Seven Havens before the last remnants of civilisation collapse.

As per President Ramsey Naito of Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation, "For two decades, the richly crafted world of 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' has introduced audiences to a world of compelling characters and groundbreaking storylines, captivating fans globally. We can't wait to embark on the next chapter of this epic saga, with a new story set within the Avatarverse, envisioned by the original creators, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko."

"The Avatar: The Last Airbender" franchise originally aired for three seasons on Nickelodeon, later followed by its sequel series, "The Legend of Korra", both created by DiMartino and Konietzko. The duo was initially attached to Netflix's live-action adaptation of the series but departed in 2020 due to creative differences. In 2021, they returned to Nickelodeon to establish Avatar Studios as co-chief creative officers, overseeing the expansion of the Avatar universe across television and film.

Reflecting on the journey of the franchise, DiMartino and Konietzko shared their excitement, "When we created the original series, we never imagined we'd still be expanding the world decades later. This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters. Get ready to take another epic and emotional adventure!"

The new series is currently in production under Avatar Studios at Nickelodeon Animation's Burbank facility. "Avatar: Seven Havens" will be structured into two books, each consisting of 13 half-hour episodes. DiMartino and Konietzko serve as co-creators and executive producers, with Ethan Spaulding also attached as an executive producer and Sehaj Sethi as a co-executive producer. Further announcements regarding the series' release date and casting details will be made in the future.

Besides, Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies' previously announced untitled animated Aang Avatar film is set to premiere exclusively in theatres on January 30, 2026. The voice cast features Dave Bautista, Dionne Quan, Jessica Matten, and Román Zaragoza, with Eric Nam making his voice-acting debut.
