I have sacrificed a lot for the association - Misha Sawdagor
Contesting for the same position in the election on January 28, he shared his expectations and future plans with the organisation.
What are you expecting from the upcoming election?
I believe that people are remembered through their work, and I wholeheartedly try to work on the welfare of the association.
I have sacrificed a lot for the association, and I know that the members will choose my panel based on our hard work for the last four years.
According to you what were your accomplishments?
During the pandemic, we actively helped artistes in need. We provided them financial support, alongside everything that they might need.
We have done these 18 times from the association, which is a record. We have also sent our plea to the government to allocate funds for the artistes. The Ministry of Cultural Affairs supported us wholeheartedly in this regard.
At the same time, we have lobbied to increase the amount of government grants, which was taken into account. Our biggest achievement was the implementation of the Artistes' welfare trust, approved by our honourable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Everyone from the association will be benefited by this.
Upon winning, what changes would you like to bring?
We want to improve the association's fund. We will request the government to allocate lands for the landless artistes. Even if we can make two houses for two artistes, we will consider it a victory. We will also try to get the voting rights back for some members who really deserve it.
Ilias Kanchan is your opponent, are you hoping for a tough contest?
Ilias Kanchan is a good soul. I consider him my elder brother.
It does not matter if we win or lose.
We are all a family and we aim to work together. I believe his participation has made the election livelier.
