Biopic on Bangabandhu expected to release next year
Indian filmmaker Shyam Benegal's much awaited biopic on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is expected to be completed and released internationally by March next year.
Indian Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur confirmed the news during his meeting with Bangladesh Information Minister Hasan Mahmud in New Delhi today.
"A major part of the production (of the film Bangabandhu) has been completed and I expect the production be over by March, 2022 if the Covid situation so permits so that the movie could be released internationally in March, 2022," Anurag told Mahmud who is now on the third day of his four-day visit to New Delhi.
The two countries also agreed to pro-actively pursue production of the documentary film on the Liberation of Bangladesh during the meeting.
The meeting also discussed strengthening of ties between the two countries in the areas of digital entertainment and screening of films of each other's country through mutual exchange.
Anurag Singh Thakur thanked the government of Bangladesh for its active participation in the 51st edition of International Film Festival of India (IFFI) held in Goa in January this and invited renewed participation in the 52nd IFFI to be held in Goa in November this year.
Both the Ministers lent support to cooperation between the two countries for further strengthening of cultural and people-to-people ties.
