Deceased Bangladeshi's body arrives
The body of Rubel Ahmed, who died at a detention centre in the UK on September 6, arrived at Osmani International Airport in Sylhet yesterday.
The body was then taken to Rubel's house in Sangirai village, and after a second namaz-e-janaza, Rubel was buried at the family graveyard.
The UK authorities had handed over the body to Rubel's relatives on Friday. The first namaz-e-janaza was held at East London Mosque, said Enamul Haque, a cousin of the deceased.
Rubel, son of Abdul Jalil, died at Morton Hall Immigration Detention Centre in Linconshire. He had been there since July 22 when the law enforcement agency detained him at a restaurant in Kent city.
Rubel had been living in the UK since 2009.
The reason behind the death has not yet been confirmed, but the UK authorities have assured Rubel's family members of a fair probe. The Bangladesh community in London are scheduled to demonstrate there tomorrow.
