Death in road crash sparks protest in Cox’s Bazar
Vehicular movement on Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway remained suspended for one and a half an hours after locals put barricades in Chokoria upazila of Cox’s Bazar protesting a road accident that killed a minor boy this morning.
A Chittagong-bound passenger bus from Cox’s Bazar ran over and killed a 10-year-old boy at Medha Kochchhapia area in the upazila around 10:30am.
The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.
As the news spread, local rushed to the spot and put barricade at the spot protesting the accident.
Nearly 100 vehicles got stuck on the highway following the road blockade, reports our Cox’s Bazar correspondent.
The locals removed the barricades from the highway at noon after a negotiation with the law enforcers, said Provash Chandra Dar, officer-in-charge of Chokoria Police Station.
