Members of Border Guard Bangladesh detained seven people from Putkhali border area in Benapole for allegedly trying to enter India illegally.

The detainees include five men and two women from Khulna, Jhenidah, Manikganj and Narail districts, reports our Benapole correspondent quoting BGB sources.

The members of 21 BGB Battalion arrested them during a drive conducted based on a tip- off that traffickers were operating in the area.

However, the traffickers managed to flee the scene after sensing presence of law enforcers, according to BGB sources.

BGB filed cases against the detainees and they will be handed over to Jashore court soon, said Mamun Khan, officer-in-charge of Benapole Port Police Station.
