15 injured in Bagerhat clash

Around fifteen people have been injured during a clash between supporters of two rival union parishad candidates in Bagerhat's Sadar Upazila.

Ahed Mostafa Bappi Sheikh, Awami League backed member candidates for Dema union ward-7, claimed that Sajib Tarafdar and his men fired at his supporters around 11:15 last night.

On the other hand, Sajib, the rival member candidate for the same ward said that Ahed and his supporters came to his house last night and shot at them indiscriminately.

At least 15 people from both sides were injured during the incident, our local correspondent reports quoting witnesses.

Bagerhat Additional Superintendent of Police Mir Shafin Mahmud said "a clash ensued between two rival groups in the area over establishing supremacy."

"We are investigating into the incident, action will be taken against those who are responsible," he added.
