Two youths to die for killing girl after rape

A Bogra court yesterday sentenced two youths to death for killing a girl after rape in Nishindhara area under Bogra municipality in 2006.

The death penalty awardees are Bidyut Hossain, 25, son of Abdus Sabur, and Rabiul Islam, 24, son of Zillur Hossain of Nishindhara Mondolpara area of the town.

According to the prosecution, Khushi, 6, daughter of Khorshed Ali of Nishindhara area, went to Nishindhara Fakir Uddin School and College to witness annual sports events of the institution on March 13, 2006.

Bidyut and Rabiul waylaid Khushi while she was returning home at around 4:00pm. They took the girl to a nearby bush and strangled her after rape.

Being informed by locals at around 6:00pm, police went to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Mohammad Ali Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Victim's father Khorshed filed a murder case with Sadar Police Station the same day.

Police arrested Bidyut and Rabiul  from Nishindhara Mondolpara area the following day, suspecting their involvement in the incident. They were later produced in the court where they confessed to raping and killing the girl.
