Tea seller burnt in stove fire dies
The tea seller of Dhaka’s Mirpur area who suffered burns after being pushed by a police source died while undergoing treatments this afternoon.
Babul Matubbar died of his burn injuries around 1:30pm, said Partha Shankar Pal, resident surgeon of Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s burn unit.
The incident took place last night when a police source named Delowar, allegedly accompanied some policeman and paid a visit to Babul’s tea shop.
Babul’s wife Lucky Begum, who claimed to be on the spot at the time, said they demanded money. A refusal to pay led to a scuffle which ended up Babul being pushed on to the stove.
He was immediately rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s burn unit.
