The tea seller of Dhaka’s Mirpur area who suffered burns after being pushed by a police source died while undergoing treatments this afternoon.
Babul Matubbar died of his burn injuries around 1:30pm, said Partha Shankar Pal, resident surgeon of Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s burn unit.
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. The incident took place last night when a police source named Delowar, allegedly accompanied some policeman and paid a visit to Babul’s tea shop.
Babul’s wife Lucky Begum, who claimed to be on the spot at the time, said they demanded money. A refusal to pay led to a scuffle which ended up Babul being pushed on to the stove.
He was immediately rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s burn unit.
