Shrimp fry seized, 8 arrested

Police arrested eight people and seized a truck loaded with 1.4 lakh shrimp fry from Lebukhali ferry terminal on Patuakhali-Barisal highway yesterday.

The arrestees are Selim, 27, Abul Kashem, 50, Gias Uddin, 35, Abdul Halim, 46, Wasim, 28, Alam, 35, Bakul, 52, and Mottakim, 20. They all hail from Khulna. 

Acting on a tip-off, a team of the law enforces raided the area around 6:00am and seized the truck, said Habibur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Dumki Police Station. 

The arrestees were later produced before a court that sent them to jail, the OC added.
