Satkhira BNP leader held

Police arrested a leader of BNP Satkhira Sadar upazila unit in the district town on Wednesday afternoon.

The arrestee is Abu Raihan, vice- president of the upazila unit.

Emdadul Haq, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said law enforcers, acting on a tip-off, raided a shop in the New Market where the BNP leader, also chairman of Kushkhali Union Parishad (UP) under the upazila, was holding a 'secret' meeting with some Jamaat leaders and activists at around 1:30pm.

They arrested Raihan while the Jamaat men managed to flee, sensing the presence of the law enforcers.
