One held in imam murder case

Police yesterday arrested prime accused in the imam killing case in Bhaluka upazila. The arrestee is Mahbubul Islam Pappu, 25, son of Sorjul Miah of Kandipara area of Gafargoan upazila. The victim Hossain Ali, alias Chalamot Munshi, 70, of Rajoi village in the upazila, was a former imam of Madhya Rajoi Mosque. A gang, allegedly led by Mahbubul, hacked Hossain Ali on his way to home from the mosque on Friday evening, said Mamun-ur-Rashid, officer-in-charge of Bhaluka Police Station. He later died at a hospital.
