The seven to eight feet long crocodile got trapped in a net when some fishermen were fishing at Varara point of the river, Abu Sayeed, chairman of the local union parishad, told our Pabna correspondent.

Earlier in December, a same species of the crocodile was also spotted by the locals in the river near Char Komorpur village of the upazila, the chairman said.

On information, the wildlife protection team of the local forest office reached the spot and rescued the crocodile.

“This is a rare crocodile live in fresh water,” Jahangir Kabir, inspector of Rajshahi forest office, said.

A freshwater crocodile was spotted at Char Komorpur point of the Padma and this is the second one spotted in last 50 years in the area, the forest official said.
