Lalmonirhat district under lockdown from today

Authorities have placed Lalmonirhat district under lockdown from today until further notice in a bid to contain spread of the novel coronavirus.
No one will be allowed to enter or leave the district during the lockdown period, District Magistrate Md Abu Zafar said this morning.
Stressing on the need to ensure the health security of people amid the coronavirus outbreak, Magistrate Abu Zafar said the authorities are going to impose strict social distancing measures.
People have been advised to stay home during the lockdown period. Check posts have been placed at all entry and exit points and permission from the district administration's control room is needed to enter or exit the district, said a directive by the Lalmonirhat administration.
Grocery shops and those selling daily necessities will remain open from 7:00am to 1:00pm everyday while medicine stores, clinics and hospitals may remain open round the clock provided social distancing measures are implemented, the directive added.
