JS special session from tomorrow to mark Mujib Borsho
Parliament will go into a special session tomorrow to mark Mujib Borsho, the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. This will be the 10th session of the 11th Parliament.
The session will start around 6:00pm tomorrow.
President Abdul Hamid will address the parliament on October 9 highlighting Bangabandhu's life and works, said sources at the parliament secretariat.
A resolution will be passed in the House following MPs discussion on the life and works of Bangabandhu, said the sources.
This is for the first time that the Jatiya Sangsad will go into any special session, they said.
The special session was scheduled to be held on March 22 but was postponed following the coronavirus outbreak in the country.
There will be certain health guidelines and social distancing amid the Covid-19 pandemic, as done during the last three parliament sessions.
Due to the pandemic, the media won't be allowed to cover the session directly except for November 9 -- the day president delivers his speech in the House. A selected number of journalists having Covid-19 negative certificate will be allowed to cover the sitting on that day.
Duration of this session will also be short like three previous sessions, sources at the parliament secretariat said.
Lawmakers, officials and staffers have to attend the session with Covid-19 negative certificates.
