4 sentenced to 1 year in prison after 710 birds recued from their possession

A mobile court today sentenced four people to one year in prison for capturing 710 birds of different species in Savar.

The court run by Wildlife Crime Control Unit (WCCU) and Rapid Action Battalion also rescued the birds at Itkhola in Savar area around 10:00am, our local correspondent reports.

WCCU Inspector Ashim Mallik said the birds were then released in Dhaka University area

The four people who were sentenced are involved with catching and selling of birds, he said.

The four are Osman Gani, Chan Mia, Rahmat and Rafiqul.
