Man kills son as revenge on third wife

A man on Monday confessed to killing his son at Sundail village in Nandail upazila. 

However, accused Dulal Mia, 38, a farmer of the village, earlier filed a case against some unknown people for killing his son.

He made the confessional statement before the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Nayan Chandra Modak, said police.

According to his statement, Dulal on October 27 stabbed his 14-year old son Md Abdullah alias Sangram to death to take revenge on his third wife who left him last year.

He filed a case with Nandail Police Station. Later, the case was transferred to Detective Branch of Police in Mymensingh. 

The detectives detained Dulal on April 8.

Locals said Dulal's first wife Rehana Akhter left him soon after the birth of Sangram in 2003 and since then Sangram had been living with his father. Later, Dulal married for the second time and the second wife divorced him in 2005. 

Dulal got married again and his third wife Sukhi Akhter left for her parents' house in Netrakona following a family feud, leaving a one-and half-year old girl with Dulal last year.

As Sukhi left his house keeping the daughter with him, Dulal planned to take revenge on Sukhi and her relatives and killed Sangram, police said.
