Lightning kills 4 in Thakurgaon

Four people were killed by separate incidents of lightning strikes in Baliadangi and Ranisankail upazilas of Thakurgaon this afternoon.

In Baliadangi, two people died on the spot and 10 others suffered injuries after a thunderbolt struck them while harvesting mango from an orchard at Badambari village around 4:00pm, said Mosabberul Haque, officer-in-charge of Baliadangi Police Station.

The deceased were identified as Rafiqul Islam, 30, son of late Abdul Karim and Nurul Islam,35, son of Bacha Mohammad of Jagdal Mahatbosti village, our Lalmonirhat correspondent reports quoting the OC.

Besides, lightning struck farmer Abdul Jabbar, 45, in Dalalbosti village of Baliadangi upazila while he was working in his paddy field nearby his house, leaving him dead on the spot, added the OC.

In Ranishankail, a teenage boy was hit by a lightning strike at Alsia village around 2:30pm and died on the spot, said Abdul Mannan, officer-in-charge of Ranishankail Police Station.

The deceased was identified as Abu Sayed,13, son of Monsur Ali, the police official said.
