Syed Ashraful’s wife dies

Public Administration Minister Syed Ashraful Islam’s wife Shila Islam passed away today in a London hospital while undergoing treatment.

She breathed her last around 8:10am (Bangladesh time), a close aide of Syed Ashraful Islam, also Awami League presidium member, confirmed The Daily Star.

Shila, 57, a retired school teacher, was suffering from cancer for many years. She left behind her husband, a daughter and a host of other relatives and well-wishers.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader expressed their deep shock at her death.
