Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) today caught a government official red-handed while taking bribe from a pensioner in Lalpur upazila of Natore.

A team of the anti-graft body arrested accounts officer Momin Ahmmed with Tk 25,000 around 2:30pm at his office, reports our Natore correspondent.

For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel.

Momin had been demanding the money from Kohinur Begum, a retired staff of Family Welfare Centre of Iswardi Union in the upazila, for processing her pension documents.

As she agreed to his demand, Momin forwarded her pension’s document after signing, sources said.

As Kohinur, later, did not give him the money, Momin held back her medical allowance documents for nearly four months.

She, however, informed the matter to ACC officials, who later conducted a special drive while the complaint’s son was handing over Tk 25,000 to Momin.

ACC’s Deputy Director Sheikh Faiaz Alam filed a case with Lalpur Police Station in this connection.
