Fourth grader raped in Noakhali

An 11-year-old girl was raped in Senbagh upazila on Tuesday.

The victim is a student of Class IV.

Superintendent of Police Md Iliyas Sharif said local teashop owner Kamal Hossain, 30, entered the house of the victim and raped her when her parents were not there. Hearing the screams of the child, neighbours rushed to the house and rescued her. They took the girl to Noakhali General Hospital. Kamal fled the scene.

Police arrested Kamal, son of Abdul Barik of Uttar Nalua village, on Tuesday night and produced him before Cognizance Court No 5. The judge sent him to jail.

Resident Medical Officer of the hospital Syed Mohiuddin Abdul Azim said the primary examination of the victim was done and a report will be available after the remaining tests.

The child has been kept under police custody, said Senbag Police Station Officer-in-Charge Moinuddin Ahmed.
