Four workers were killed and six others injured as the roof of an under-construction petrol pump collapsed in Ashuganj upazila of Brahmanbaria this afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Nazmul Mia, 18, Mizan Mia, Abu Sayed, 40, and Dulal Mia, 50, reports our local correspondent quoting Ashuganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Amirul Qaiser.

Witnesses and fire service said the roof of ‘Sayera Filling Station’ in Bahadurpur area beside Dhaka-Sylhet highway suddenly collapsed and fell on the labours while they were working there. Worker Dulal Mia died on the spot.

Later, locals and a fire-fighting unit rushed to the spot and recued nine others workers from the debris and took them to Sadar Hospital where doctors declared three others dead, the UNO further said.
