The father of Nafis Ul Islam, who was killed along with two others at a “militant den” in Dhaka’s Nakhalpara, said he will not receive the body of his son for burial.

“I won’t receive his (Nafis) body as he got involved with militancy, tarnishing the image of the country as well as our family,” Nafis’ father Nazrul Islam told our Chittagong staff correspondent.

Nazrul, a resident in Sadarghat area of Chittagong city, said his family members want to take the body for burial but he asked them not to do that.

Earlier on Friday, Nazrul identified the body of his son at Suhrawardi Medical College Hospital morgue.

Nafis and two other suspected militants were killed in anti-militancy drive at “Ruby Villa” in Nakhalpara of Tejgaon area on January 12.

Earlier, Nafis, 16, an eighth-grader at Kazem Ali High School, went missing from his Sirajuddowla's residence in Chittagong city on October 6.

He left the house in the name of attending Juma prayers. His family filed a general diary with the city's Chawakbazar Police Station the next day.

Another ‘militant’ identified

Another alleged militant, who was also killed in the raid, was identified as Rabin Mia.

Rabin, 17, was the youngest son of late Fajaruddin of Sherpur, Lt Col Emranul Hasan, commanding officer of Rab-3 told The Daily Star this evening.

Golam Mostafa, the brother of Rabin, identified the body at mortuary of Suhrawardi Medical College, he said.

Nafis came to the residence of Rabin around three months ago. Rabin left his home on January 7 this year after lifting Tk 5,000 from his brother’s shop, the Rab official said quoting Rabin’s family. He remained missing since then.
