The operation conducted by a team of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of DMP at a six-storey building and a two-storey building in the area ended around 3:00pm today, Shah Mizan Shafiur Rahman, superintendent of police in Dhaka, told journalists at a briefing this afternoon.
Police took Shakib Ahmed, owner of the six-storey building, to their custody for questioning.
More information on the suspected militants, who had holed up in the hideouts, could be known after interrogating Shakib, the SP said.
Last night, the law enforcers cordoned off the six-storey building and the two-storey building in the area.
Around 10:45am today, the law enforcers resumed their operation after a bomb disposal unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) reached the spot.
Sound of nine explosions has been heard between 12:10pm and 1:57pm after the bomb disposal team broke into a room of one of the suspected militant dens on the first floor of the six-storey building.
The law enforcers earlier evacuated the locals from the nearby houses.
Earlier last night, a CTTC team raided a suspected militant den on the ground floor of a five-storey building, adjacent to the two houses, with assistance from Savar Model Police Station.
