CCC official held while taking bribe

Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) today arrested an official of Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) red-handed while taking bribe.

A team led by ACC’s Assistant Director Akhtaruzzaman arrested Ali Akbar, deputy tax officer (acting) of CCC.

Earlier, Akbar demanded Tk 40,000 from a complainant for fixing holding tax and changing the name of the owner, sources said. The complainant informed it to ACC which planned a trap to catch the accused re-handed.

As per the plan, the ACC team caught him with Tk 20,000 at CCC’s Revenue Circle-2 office at Baddarhat in Chittagong just after he took the bribe.

A case was filed with Chadgaon Police Station in this connection.
