Cattle trader shot by BSF
Indian Border Security Force (BSF) shot a Bangladeshi cattle trader on Masudpur border in Shibganj upazila of the district on Saturday night.
The injured is Mohammad Minhaz, 22, son of Mohammad Nuru of Thotapara village in the upazila.
The BSF troops of Shuvopur camp under BSF 20 Battalion of Paschimbanga opened fire on Minhaz while he was returning home through the border along with three cattle around 10:00pm, said Major Nazmul Alam, deputy commanding officer of BGB 9 Battalion.
Minhaz sustained bullet wounds and managed to flee the spot, the BGB official added.
He is taking treatment secretly to avoid arrest, the official said. Being informed, BGB personnel went to the spot and seized the cattle.
BGB later filed a case against Minhaz with Shibganj Police Station and handed over the cattle to the customs authorities.
