BSF shoots one, detains another
A Bangladeshi cattle trader was shot and another picked up allegedly by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) in Kurigram and Dinajpur in the last two days.
BSF shot and injured a cattle trader at Krishnananda Bakshi border in Phulbari upazila of Kurigram yesterday, reports our correspondent.
Abu Bakkar, 30, son of Ali Bakash of Gorakmondal village, was admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital with bullet injuries in his back.
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and local sources said when Abu Bakkar and some other cattle traders went to the border area to bring Indian cattle around 6:40am, BSF members opened fire, leaving him seriously injured.
A case will be filed with Phulbari Police Station against Abu Bakkar for entering Indian territory illegally, said Lt Col Jakir Hossain, commanding officer of BGB-45 Battalion.
In Dinajpur, BSF picked up a man from a border in Birampur upazila of the district on Friday, reports our correspondent.
The victim is Rustom Ali, 35, son of Md Bodiuzzaman of Katla village in the upazila, said a BGB official.
Villagers said when Rustom went to the border area to bring back his cattle home, BSF men picked up him, said Subedar Abdus Sattar of Bhaigarh BGB camp.
