Customs intelligence officials have arrested two persons with 31 gold bars weighing 5.8 kilogrammes at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka.
The arrestees are Keramat Ali, 58, and Lokman,58. They landed at the airport by a flight from Chittagong yesterday evening, Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) Director General Moinul Khan told The Daily Star today.
Tipped off, an intelligence team challenged them while they were leaving through domestic arrival point. Later, the officials recovered the 31 gold bars, worth Tk 2.90 crore, from them, he said.
The arrestees were handed over to Airport Police Station.
