126 gold bars seized in Jessore town, four arrested

Members of Armed Police Battalion (APBn) arrested four people with 126 gold bars weighing 18.3 kilograms at Chanchra in Jessore town yesterday.

The arrestees are Shahinur Rahman, Md Abdullah, Habibur Rahman and Anwarul Islam.

Harunur Rashid, commander of APBn, said acting on a tip-off, they raided a Satkhira-bound passenger bus at around 8:30am and arrested the four with the gold bars.

The gold bars were being taken to Satkhira from Shyamoli in the capital for smuggling to India, he said.
